Private jet plan for Thailand
More of Phuket´s tourist elite can arrive in their own style if plans for a proposed private jet terminal are put into flight.
Under code name project ´Private Jet Terminal at Don Muang Airport´, the Government has asked company Thailand Elite to develop marketing plans to accommodate for more visitors who arrive in Thailand in their own private jet.
The four to five private jet flights per day landing at Phuket Airport and two to three flights at Don Muang Airport would increase by 50 percent when proposed renovations were completed, a Thailand Elite spokesperson said. They estimate the cost of the renovations will reach Bt30 million.
The Ministry for Tourism and Sport said Thailand had lost a number of rich travelers due to a lack of airport facilities for private jets, but much needed to be discussed (such as Immigration officers to serve private jet passengers) before any plans could be undertaken.
Launched in 2004 and part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand Elite is the world´s first country membership programme with its´ cardholders benefiting in immigration, leisure, business, and more.
